Meet the team: JAM-IT's Mendix Business Engineer Vincent

In this blog series we introduce our people to you. Today we meet Vincent, our curious and analytical Mendix Business Engineer Trainee at JAM-IT.

Curious, analytical and always looking to develop

Vincent is someone who likes to understand how things work. When he runs into something, he takes the time to analyse the problem step by step before looking for a solution. That curious and analytical way of thinking runs like a thread through his studies, his interests and his ambitions.

Vincent is 24, lives in Papendrecht and studied Computer Science at Utrecht University. After finishing his degree he deliberately decided to take a gap year. Not to sit still, but to think about which direction he wanted to take and which step would suit him best.

When he then started looking into traineeships, he came across the Mendix Business Engineer Traineeship at JAM-IT.

A future in low-code

What appealed to Vincent about JAM-IT straight away was the combination of learning and doing. Although he had gained little experience with low-code development during his studies, he immediately saw the potential of Mendix. He is convinced that low-code will continue to play an important role in software development in the future. That is precisely why he wanted to go deeper into it.

He was also drawn to the fact that at JAM-IT you do not only follow a training programme, but eventually work on real projects and get the room to develop yourself further. The attention paid to new technologies and innovation within the organisation was the final push for him to apply.

Learning, certifying and building

At the moment the traineeship is mainly about learning. Vincent is working towards his Mendix certifications and is building a solid foundation for practice.

His goal for the coming year is clear: gain the certificates he needs, build up experience and then help deliver great software projects for clients. For Vincent it is not only about technical knowledge, but above all about continuing to develop yourself and taking on new challenges.

An approachable working atmosphere

Vincent's first impression of JAM-IT is very positive. The open atmosphere within the team appeals to him most of all.

What makes the difference for me is the friendly and approachable working atmosphere. I can always turn to colleagues if I have a question or need help. I also like the flexible working hours, so I can decide for myself when I start my working day.

It is exactly that combination of working together, helping each other and at the same time getting the room to grow independently that makes him feel at home in the team so quickly.

Gaming, chess and cooking

Outside work Vincent likes to relax by gaming. He also enjoys chess and cooking. Although he says himself that he still has plenty to learn in both, it is precisely that learning process he enjoys.

Discovering new strategies, experimenting and improving yourself step by step suit his curious character well. He brings that same attitude to his work: keep learning, gain new knowledge and always look for the next challenge.

At JAM-IT every colleague gets their own avatar that matches their personality. For Vincent that is a raccoon. According to Vincent this animal suits him well because a raccoon is curious and likes to investigate how things work.

When he gets stuck on something, he asks questions and first tries to understand properly how a problem fits together before looking for a solution.

With his curiosity, his analytical eye and his ambition to keep developing, Vincent is ready to gain a lot of experience in the coming period within JAM-IT's Mendix Business Engineer Traineeship.
