Quion handles the administrative side of the mortgage process for a range of lenders. Looking to build a consumer portal, the company went in search of Mendix developers, and that search led to JAM-IT. Product Owner Ivo de Jong describes how the collaboration works.
Quion is a leading company that acts as an outsourcing partner for financial organisations wanting to offer mortgages on the Dutch market. With an impressive client base of more than 30 lenders, ranging from banks to insurers and pension funds, Quion plays an essential role in facilitating smooth, efficient mortgage processes.
Quion, as part of the Blauwtrust Groep, is known not only for its influential role in administering the mortgage process for various lenders, but is also part of a wider group that serves the financial sector on several fronts, driven by innovation and continuous improvement.
Quion had ambitious plans to improve and innovate their services, including the development of a consumer portal for everyone holding a mortgage with one of their lenders. This portal would offer a seamless, user-friendly experience for those consumers to manage their mortgage affairs, and it needed the expertise of Mendix developers to make it happen.
The search for a suitable partner led Quion to JAM-IT.
The collaboration between JAM-IT and Quion started with a pragmatic approach.
It began with solving small bugs in the system as practice for the wider collaboration.
The process involved defining user stories, development by JAM-IT and testing on Quion's side, which resulted in a streamlined, effective workflow.
Ivo emphasises that although integrating Quion's consumer portal was a challenge at first, JAM-IT quickly picked up the knowledge required and impressed with their commitment and expertise.
Looking ahead, the collaboration between JAM-IT and Quion continues to develop.
In this article we speak with Ivo de Jong. As Product Owner in the Customer Engagement Management (CEM) team at Quion, Ivo brings not only almost ten years of valuable experience, but also deep knowledge of the sector and a passion for delivering high-quality services to customers.
Ivo says: "At the beginning of last year we were looking for Mendix developers, but they were hard to find because our own internal developers had found challenges elsewhere."
Ivo stresses: "We mainly used the time between the start and the big project to tackle small bugs and changes, but also to prepare for the work on that big project."
"We have set up regular meetings and use various communication channels such as WhatsApp, Teams and Jira to work together efficiently."
The experience of the collaboration between JAM-IT and Quion is marked by a pleasant dynamic. Ivo shares his experience: "At the start it took everyone a while to find their feet. Before, I had worked with internal colleagues for a long time and we knew each other's ways well. JAM-IT had to get to grips quickly with the mortgage product we were working on, but from the very first conversations with Armando and Martijn it was clear they had a thorough understanding of the subject matter, including expertise in Mendix development and broad knowledge of Java and the entire IT process. I also value their down-to-earth, constructive attitude." The collaboration between JAM-IT and Quion has led to a streamlined, successful integration of technology and services, with tangible results.
Ivo and Joey actively thinking along is enormously helpful in solving and understanding bugs or new requirements, so that they can be dealt with effectively. We are enthusiastic about the solid basis we are building now and look forward to extending our collaboration further.
