IT Traineeship Mendix Business Engineer (with an eye on AI & full-stack development)
In roughly three months you grow into a Mendix Business Engineer, with AI-assisted development as a fixed part of the programme.
JAM-IT, founded in 2015, develops web and mobile applications for government and for the financial and construction sectors. We also build and sell our own software products. We are a partner of Mendix, a software development platform with which we build applications to automate business processes.
We have a passion for innovation and technology, and are always looking for better solutions for the client. Our focus is on quality, efficiency and security. You will be working in a friendly, young team, where alongside working hard we think humour matters too.
Our traineeship has four phases, and you complete each phase with a certificate. During the roughly three-month training programme you apply what you have learned in practice.
You start by learning the basics of IT and follow a multi-day course that introduces you to the world of Mendix.
A classroom course of a few days teaches you the basics of Scrum.
A classroom training teaches you the finer points of the development platform: which tools Mendix offers and what you can use them for.
A practical course in which you learn how to use AI professionally during software development: instructing it properly, supplying context, having it plan work, and checking and testing the tasks it has carried out.
We find your talents and skills more interesting than your prior education. If you are driven to learn and want to build a good career in IT, then we are looking for you.
Whatever the field, and completed before you start the programme.
For example through study or self-study. Experience with IT or engineering is an advantage, not a requirement.
Analytical skills and communication skills are part of that.
Fluent command of Dutch, spoken and written, is a requirement for this role. You also have an excellent command of English, spoken and written.

Our traineeship gives you the opportunity to become a Business Engineer in Mendix in roughly three months. And you do it at an organisation that actively uses modern technology, including AI, to make software smarter and more efficient.
We also look ahead. Alongside low-code development, during the traineeship you get to know AI-assisted development and learn how AI tools are used within traditional software development. That prepares you for what software development looks like now and in the years ahead.
The traineeship is meant for starters on the job market, including recent graduates. Do you have an IT background or an IT degree, and do you want a career in IT? Then our traineeship is probably a good and logical next step for you.
Do you not have a diploma or degree in IT or engineering, but are you motivated to work in IT? If you can show us that you have the right level of thinking and working and enough analytical skill, then the IT traineeship at JAM-IT is perfect for you.
The goal is not simply to have AI generate code. What you learn is how to stay in control as a developer and use AI as a tool to work smarter and more efficiently. So alongside your Mendix knowledge, you gain experience with a way of building software that plays an increasingly large role within JAM-IT.

Finally, you learn to build and improve mobile and web applications. You learn to build a Mendix application using a Scrum approach, tuned to what a client wants. Once you have successfully completed every part, you earn a fitting salary (see below).
As an IT trainee Business Engineer at JAM-IT you get to do real work. You contribute to the products and services we develop for our clients and help think about how IT can support what an organisation needs.
At JAM-IT we believe good software development is about understanding, steering and choosing, not only about tools. So we teach you not only how to build, but also when to choose low-code, traditional development, or a combination with AI. You get to know different ways of building and discover how to use technology deliberately to arrive at the best solution.

During the traineeship you build a fictional internal app. That way you apply every step directly: from Mendix and Scrum to AI-assisted development, testing, improving and presenting.
Our office is in Ridderkerk. Preferably you live in the area of The Hague, Rotterdam or Roosendaal.
Have you successfully completed the traineeship at JAM-IT? Congratulations, you may now call yourself a Business Engineer. After the traineeship you keep developing by gaining practical experience and working on a range of projects. These may be Mendix projects, but also projects in which traditional development combined with AI plays an increasingly large role. That way you grow step by step along with the way software development itself is changing, together with JAM-IT.
Have you gained a year of work experience and earned your Advanced certificate? Congratulations, you are now an Advanced Business Engineer at JAM-IT. Alongside a salary increase, you receive a company car or a public transport arrangement.

The traineeship is meant to give starters, including recent graduates with little to no experience on the job market, the chance to develop further as a Business Engineer.
Our clients have a business question; you devise and build the IT solution. In doing so you look beyond technology: you also think about how business processes could be faster and cheaper. You translate those ideas into technology, such as a Mendix application for web or mobile. So you are the link between business and IT.
We like simple. At JAM-IT we specialise in Mendix, a platform for developing software applications through modelling. The applications need little to no code, which means anyone can build applications based on what a client wants and needs.
Do not worry if you do not know it. During the traineeship you learn the ins and outs of Mendix and how to use it.
The traineeship takes roughly three months.
Yes, you have graduated before you start the programme. We make no exceptions to this. Trainees need at least a completed degree from a university of applied sciences.
Please note: for this role it is essential that the selected candidate speaks fluent Dutch alongside having a command of English.
