JAM-IT nominated for the Computable Awards 2025

JAM-IT has once again been nominated for the Computable Awards 2025, this time in the Government project category. The nomination is for the Vluchtelingen Volgsysteem (VVS), an application that supports municipalities and reception locations in organising reception efficiently and humanely.

In 2024 we were nominated as well, that year with the Multi Intelligence Center in the Digital Innovation category. With VVS we have, since that year, been not only the developer but also the owner of the application, and that makes this nomination extra special.

Vluchtelingen Volgsysteem: a grip on humane reception

The VVS was developed to address one of the biggest challenges facing municipalities: coordinating and monitoring reception places. Where separate Excel files and phone calls used to be the norm, VVS offers a central, real-time platform.

It gives municipalities immediate insight into:

• Available reception places
• Types of location (for example COA, Ukraine, local)
• Facilities and restrictions
• Occupancy rates and throughput

VVS also keeps groups, such as families, together, supports SPUK reporting and safeguards sensitive data with high standards of data protection.

With more than 80 municipalities using the system, VVS has become a proven solution for clear oversight, control and humane reception.

The development process: Rotterdam as the driving force

The success of VVS comes from close collaboration with the field. From day one, Gemeente Rotterdam was central as a partner. Their input, requirements, testing and guidance were invaluable during development.

Thanks to Rotterdam we were able to align the system closely with the reality of municipalities. Their involvement made it possible to iterate quickly, test functionality and optimise the user experience.

Impact in practice

The results speak for themselves:

• Less administrative pressure through automation of processes.
• Real-time insight into occupancy and capacity.
• More humane reception, because families and groups can stay together.
• Efficient collaboration between municipalities in the region.

Through the combination of technology, collaboration and practice-driven development, VVS has proven itself as the standard for refugee reception.

Built with Mendix, managed by JAM-IT

VVS was developed with Mendix, which allowed us to roll out functionality quickly and flexibly in a time of crisis. Since 2024 the application has been fully managed by JAM-IT. That means we do not only handle the development, but also carry the ownership, including further development, maintenance and security.

This gives municipalities the certainty of a reliable partner that understands the system, keeps developing it and keeps it future-proof.

The future, and pride

With this nomination we confirm that VVS is not only technically strong, but above all makes a social impact. The system grows with the Spreidingswet and future policy changes, so municipalities stay prepared for what is coming.

We are proud of the recognition from Computable and grateful for the collaboration with all the municipalities involved, and in particular Rotterdam, who helped us and many others on our way.

The Computable Awards 2025 ceremony takes place later this year. Until then we carry on working towards our goal: facilitating efficient, safe and humane reception with VVS.
