Prikkl was developing a new tool that involved a great many calculations. To be able to run those calculations centrally and use the tool in different places, Prikkl needed an API environment.
The request to create this calculation tool was put to JAM-IT.
For the Prikkl API we write a unit test for every service. These tests are written by the developer as part of the test driven development method. With that method, automated tests are created from the smallest unit. We supply certain input parameters ourselves and know what end result we expect back, which we then verify.
These tests stay in place, and if something is changed in future that makes a test fail, we know about it and can solve the problem. That way we prevent bugs and safeguard the reliability of the Prikkl API.
Partly thanks to the Scrum method, the Prikkl API development process was structured and efficient.
At JAM-IT we work in sprints in which we work on a number of stories for the application.
In our project tracking tool, Jira, we could see the status of the stories in the sprint at any moment.
This way of working meant we could respond quickly to changes and adapt to the needs of the project.
Rui from Prikkl is pleased with the end result. Prikkl has since taken management of the API in house. JAM-IT set the API up, which can be seen as the skeleton, and they are very happy with it. They are now refining the API themselves and applying new clever touches.

JAM-IT started developing the Prikkl API and thoroughly enjoyed working on this tool. The development process of the Prikkl API was a particularly interesting experience for JAM-IT. Merijn, Business Engineer at JAM-IT, shares his experience:
