An app that makes it easy to arrange to meet up and play football.
Because the app had to include real-time functionality, we saw opportunities to work with innovative solutions. It was important, for instance, to give users continuous updates on the map and the calendar.
It was also an enjoyable challenge to style the app and deliver real-time updates without users having to refresh the page manually.
The result is Let's Goal, an app that gives users insight into available football pitches and lets them easily arrange to play together, with a playful look and feel. That gives football fans the chance to find each other and share their passion.
As a team we are convinced the app will be a great success and we look forward to working with everyone who loves football.
For that we use websockets, among other things, an innovative protocol in the IT world.
When another user checks in at a pitch, their avatar shows up on the map immediately.
Checking in adds the matching calendar item.
We enjoyed the process that brought Let's Goal into being, which was a unique challenge for us. At JAM-IT we are proud of this football app and we are convinced it will be a good addition for football fans.
At JAM-IT we were given the challenge of working on a completely new concept in football: developing a real-time football app that lets football fans in the neighbourhood find each other and play together. That is how Let's Goal came about: an app that makes it easy to arrange to meet up and play football.
Throughout the process we worked with a team of experienced developers to make sure the app would be of high quality. While working on the app we also ran into a few obstacles, such as the client's wish to show adverts in the app. Unfortunately those libraries did not work well with Mendix. Fortunately, alongside the standard building blocks the Mendix platform also offers the option of custom JavaScript and Java, which meant we could still deliver these native requirements and make the app a complete success.
